Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Amman

Upon arrival in Amman, you will be welcomed by your Cox & Kings local representative and assisted through the airport with compliementary visa, then accompanied to your hotel (Four Seasons Hotel Amman).

Day 2 - Amman

Embark on a tour of one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. With your expert local guide, visit old Amman, including the ancient ruins of the Temple of Hercules and the massive Roman theater, a wonderful example of classic Roman architecture that dates back to the second century. Stop at the National Archeological Museum to take a stroll through Jordan's long and fascinating history. Head outside the city to discover the city of Jerash, which is widely regarded as the best-preserved city of the Roman Decapolis. Explore the fascinating ruins, including the imposing Triumphal Arch, the ovalshaped forum, marketplace, temples and two theaters, which were the focal points of Roman cultural life. Continue to Aljun through the hills of northern Jordan to see its towering castle, which was built in the 12th century to protect the region from the Crusaders.

Day 3 - To Petra

Embark upon a classic drive along the King's Highway en route to the Lost City of Petra. Stop on the way to visit Mt. Nebo, which is believed to be the site of Moses' Tomb. As you stand upon its summit, admire the panoramic views of Israel and the River Jordan. Continue to Madaba, home of some of the world's most famous Byzantine mosaics, which date back to the 6th century. From here, travel to Kerak to discover the imposing crusader castle that sits on a craggy hill above the town. One of the largest crusader castles in the region, "Crac des Moabites," as the crusaders called it, was constructed beginning in the 12th century. Upon arrival in Petra, check in to your hotel (Movenpick Resort Petra).

Day 4 - Petra

Spend the day exploring the red sandstone city of Petra, built 2,000 years ago by nomadic Bedouins. This desert city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia, and its inhabitants became rich by imposing duties on traveling caravans. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. One of the New Seven Wonders of the World, it is an awe-inspiring archaeological site, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with the glory of Greek architecture. From the narrow, winding passageway of the Siq and the great Treasury to the hilltop Monastery, discoveries await you at every turn.

Day 5 - To Dead Sea

This morning, travel to Wadi Rum and enjoy a 4x4 excursion with a local Bedouin guide as well as a camel ride through ancient valleys under towering sandstone mountains. Afterwards, continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Situated more than 1,000 feet below sea level, the Dead Sea has attracted travellers in search of rejuvenation for hundreds of years. The sea's high salt content makes swimmers giddily buoyant, and the placid, pale blue waters stretching out to the horizon are blissfully calm. Upon arrival in your elegant resort overlooking the sea, enjoy some time at leisure (Kempinski Hotel Ishtar).

Day 6 - Dead Sea

This morning, take an excursion to the River Jordan and the Baptism site. Afterwards, return to the resort for a final afternoon and evening at leisure. Take a dip in the world's saltiest waters, relax by the pools or pamper yourself with a trip to the spa.

Day 7 - Depart Amman

Bid farewell to Jordan today as you are escorted to the airport for your onward flight.
